Dr. Eric Carbonnier is an architect, researcher, and professor cultivating sustainable practices deeply devoted to decarbonizing the built environment. His career emerged in infrastructure projects, leading to two decades in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. He has been keenly focused on decarbonizing development through resource conservation, water restoration, energy resilience, waste diversion, and post-occupancy feedback loops to advance evidence-base design models.
Eric is a Graduate Research Fellow at the Energy Studies in Buildings Laboratory (ESBL), innovating passive energy solutions to improve human wellness, health, and productivity. His scholarly publications can be found in the Passive Low Energy Architecture (PLEA), National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS), and Façade Tectonics. His contributions are reflected in numerous LEED Platinum projects and International Living Futures Institute Zero Energy certifications.
Eric served as Chair of Sustainable Practices and Construction Management at Woodbury University, where he lectures on high-performance design, material innovation, environmental policy, and climate justice.
As Director of Sustainability at WATG and Wimberly Interiors, Eric will advance WATG’s global strategy of bringing design thinking and delivery in line with our environmental, social, and economic goals to create resilient environments in a rapidly changing world.
